Alright, I don’t begrudge the people who were chosen. No. THIS rant is for the people who chose.
Dear BBC America,
All of the cosplayers you chose as finalists for your contest own the screen accurate material. You know what you did there? You made this a contest for people with the money to buy the screen accurate clothes. You know how much some of those costumes cost? Upwards of $300 or more.
So what about the rest of us who put time and effort into our costumes and maybe can’t afford to drop that kind of money on cosplay? What about those of us who built very accurate costumes on the budgets we had? Are we not good enough simply because we’re not at a point in our lives where we can spend money on nice things?
I am incredibly disappointed by you. There are very deserving cosplayers who are not in this because they couldn’t afford to go get a screen accurate coat or shoes or belt or shirt or dress.
So, this is my official middle finger to your selection process. Have a nice day.
